I, always one more for words and synthesis than painting or drawing, took to first collage, and then reproduction. Via linography, cyanotype, and graphoic design I managed to carve out a lane of artistic expression, that while of course influenced by many [see..max ernst, mieko shiomi , john karborn, alison knowles, kurt vonnegut, john waters, douglas adams, etc} felt my own. I develop a simple test, an emblem and an adage I could always rely on as I adapted to new forms of expression: A Spiral and the words, Don't Spiral Out.
Simple and common though it may be, to me, the spiral symbolized introspection and the ability to turn into myself and churn through all the complexities of life...a willingness, a love, and honestly a fixation with thought and ruminating. The text, a command, always written with each letter capitalized. While rumination and introspection are a noble effort, it is important to not get so wrapped up in everything as to become indented with anxiety and stagnated by thought. Think and wonder, but most importantly, create! Do not let the difficulties of a medium or the setbacks of life stop you from forging through.
An exhibition that explores romantic relationships as deeply personal acts of devotion, akin to religious practice. Through three key elements—altars, relics, and ornamentation—it invites viewers to reflect on the intimate rituals that shape their connections to love, identity, and spirituality. As of now...eternally in the works :).
In the Works...soon the words
